Oysho has been confirmed as the new headline sponsor of the Cardiff Half Marathon, taking over from Principality Building Society.
The 2025 edition of the race returns to the Welsh capital on Sunday, October 5. Organised by Run 4 Wales (R4W), it remains Wales’ largest mass participation event and is among the biggest half marathons in Europe, regularly attracting over 27,500 runners.
The addition of Oysho – an international sport and leisure brand owned by the Inditex Group – marks its first sponsorship of a UK sporting event. The brand joins the race at a time when it has seen growing international appeal, in part due to its place in the SuperHalfs Series. The six-race series also includes events in Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen and Valencia.
Matt Newman, Chief Executive at R4W, said “Oysho has a huge international footprint and is becoming increasingly popular in the UK with the opening of its London stores and twice weekly run clubs.
“With its commitment to health, fitness and running, Oysho is a perfect fit for the Cardiff Half which is dedicated to inspiring people to get active and seeing more people than ever join in from overseas.
“We’re really excited to have crossed the starting line of this new partnership and to see what this new chapter for the Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon brings to both the race and the city.”
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Barcelona, Oysho has a presence in more than 220 markets, including stores in France, Spain, Italy, Dubai, China and the UK.
Its offering includes technical collections for fitness, pilates, barre, yoga and running, and the brand also runs a series of community initiatives such as fitness sessions, run clubs and the Oysho Training app.
Runners at this year’s event in Cardiff will receive an exclusive technical race day t-shirt from Oysho. While general entries sold out within 12 hours, limited entries remain available through official charities, tour operators and Business Challenge packages.
