World Endurance Canada has confirmed that it is hosting the first official Subaru Triathlon Series Club Championship in 2012, with three eligible events: the Muskoka 5150 Triathlon/Duathlon/Swim-Bike, the Muskoka Sprint – Triathlon/Duathlon, and the Port Sydney Kids Triathlon. A prize purse of C$5,000 will be on offer to participating club athletes, in addition to C$10,000 available in elite prize money at the main 5150 Muskoka event.
Under the club championship points are awarded to athletes and volunteers:
- 2 points per 5150 athletes
- 1 point per Sprint athlete
- 1 point per child that races in Port Sydney triathlon
- 0.5 point per volunteer (up to 5 points) (pre-registered with volunteer coordinator)
The Muskoka 5150 Triathlon takes place on Sunday 22 July 2012 at Summit Centre, Huntsville, Ontario. At the Muskoka 5150 Triathlon, qualifying spots at the Hyvee 5150 World Championship are up for grabs for the top 5 athletes in each age group.
The event is also positioned as a family weekend, with the Muskoka Kids Tri taking place the day before. 5150 participants receive a Merrell Technical Tee, finisher’s medal, Headsweat’s hat and free 5150 transition mat.
