TriColumbia unveils 2012 race season sponsors

TriColumbia, ‘the Mid-Atlantic’s premier endurance event production company’, has announced its 2012 category sponsors, which include: Aqua Sphere, EnduraFit, Gatorade, Hammer Nutrition and Princeton Sports. With the support of category sponsors, TriColumbia is ‘able to provide superior events that promote lifelong health and fitness and to give back to the community by supporting dozens of local and regional charity and community organizations.’

In 2012, TriColumbia will produce nine endurance events in the Mid-Atlantic region, including the Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Half Marathon, Columbia Triathlon, Blackwater Duathlon, EnduraFit Ironman 70.3 EagleMan Triathlon, Celebrating Heroes Triathlon, Kidz Triathlon, Athleta Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon, Iron Girl Rocky Gap Triathlon and ChesapeakeMan Endurance Festival, attracting more than 11,000 participants.

In addition, the race organizer expects to build on its contributions to worthy causes. In 2011, TriColumbia contributed nearly US$200,000 in direct donations to local and regional charities and community organizations, as well as enabled dozens of charity teams to fundraise in excess of US$500,000 to support their missions.

“We are thrilled with the support we have received from our sponsors throughout the course of the race season,” said Robert Vigorito, President and founder of TriColumbia. “Without their continued passion for health and wellbeing, TriColumbia would not have the ability to produce premier endurance events or to give back to the community which we serve.”

Top of the line performance wear company Aqua Sphere has teamed with TriColumbia as the official swim product sponsor of its 2012 events. A key player in the performance apparel industry, EnduraFit specializes in endurance event giveaway programs and retail solutions for those same events. EnduraFit’s products have moisture-wicking and anti-microbial elements providing beneficial quality and comfort on race day. EnduraFit will serve as the official athletic wear sponsor of TriColumbia events, as well as the presenting sponsor of the 2012 EnduraFit Ironman 70.3 EagleMan Triathlon.

RackJacket, made by EnduraFit, is the claimed to be the first product on the market specifically designed to keep an athlete’s bike dry while on the rack at a triathlon. It is also capable of storing wetsuits and other gear to limit loss during transitions in a triathlon. This product is ‘easy to use, protects your bike and is extremely water resistant.’

Gatorade, the official sports drink provider of 2012 TriColumbia events, provides sports drink, nutrition bars and protein shakes for athletes to replenish the water, carbohydrates and electrolytes lost during training and competition. The collective mission of Gatorade is to enable athletes to always perform at their peak.

Since 1987, Hammer Nutrition has been dedicated to helping serious endurance athletes reach their highest levels of athletic performance and physical health in a safe and natural way. As the official nutrition products sponsor of TriColumbia, Hammer provides quality products to race participants.

For more than 75 years, Princeton Sports has provided sport enthusiasts in Baltimore and Columbia with unparalleled service and support. Princeton Sports sells a variety of sporting equipment, including bicycle, tennis, swim, ski and snowboard equipment, and is the official bike support shop of TriColumbia events.

TriColumbia is a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization and the Mid-Atlantic’s premier endurance event production company providing an array of events for all ability levels across the triathlon/multisport continuum. Founded by current President, Race Director and 6-time Ironman Kona finisher, Robert Vigorito in 1983, the organization aims to make a difference for participating athletes and also gives back to the community by supporting many local and regional charities, which provide a full spectrum of support for citizens in need.
