London Cycle Exchange (LCE) – the new and unique platform for buying and selling pre-owned performance bicycles – has a new option for its customers following a partnership with the UK’s Bike2Work Scheme. The deal sees LCE as the first pre-owned performance bicycle operation on a cycle to work scheme.
The Bike2Work Scheme is made possible by the UK Government’s Green Transport Plan, which not only aims to reduce environmental pollution and promote healthier lifestyles but also make cycling to work a cost-effective option for employees.
Bike 2 Work Scheme organises bike purchase schemes completely free of charge on behalf of an employer – enabling employees to purchase a bike through a scheme. Employees can save up to 42% on the cost of a new bike and equipment with the cost spread over several monthly interest free payments.
Matt Connelley, Founder and Purchasing Director of LCE, said “I set up London Cycle Exchange to make buying and selling pre-owned performance bikes an easier, safer and more enjoyable process. Now, not only do you get superior value with our used approved bikes, you can now get the tax efficiency and monthly payment benefits of the Bike2Work Scheme too.”
He added, “Even better than that, we may be able to discount your purchase if you have something to trade in. So that voucher goes even further! This means you can be the smug one as you pull up at the traffic lights knowing you got so much more ‘honey for your money’!”
A new spin on buying a bike…
To take the doubt away from buying a pre-owned bike, all transactions are with LCE directly. LCE ensures buyers know exactly what they are paying for – including the bike’s origin and history. All transactions are backed up by LCE’s Cycle Origin Guarantee providing assurance of provenance, security and mechanical worthiness. Any bikes found to be stolen will be given to the police.
All bikes featured on LCE’s website are subject to a full mechanical inspection by a Cycletech-accredited mechanic and covered by a three-month warranty.
For sellers, the process is quick and easy – with LCE ensuring they get a fair price and their bike is collected free of charge. LCE also provides an exchange service enabling cyclists to upgrade or change their bike on the platform too.
LCE is also partnering with cycling retailers and cycle touring companies by offering ex-demo or tour bike purchasing and part exchange services. LCE will purchase trade ins so that the process of upgrading is simpler and cheaper for retailers and their customers.
