In partnership with local multisport event firm, Asdeporte, Competitor Group Inc (CGI) has confirmed that its Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series will expand to Mexico in 2015 with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Mexico City Half Marathon.
A press conference in Mexico City this week confirmed that ‘the World’s Largest Running Series’ is expanding in Latin America.
“With our historically strong participant base in Latin America, we are thrilled to announce Mexico City as the newest international event of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series,” said David Abeles, Chief Executive Officer of CGI.
“The opportunity to partner with Asdeporte, a world-class event operator, allows us to continue to reach a growing global audience of runners with a first class Rock ‘n’ Roll experience.”
One of the world’s great capitals, Mexico City is the largest city in North America. It’s cultural mix of ancient Aztec temples, modern-art museums and food culture promises an exhilarating event destination. The inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Mexico City Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 15 March 2015, with registration opening on 5 September 2014 via a special one day pre-sale at RocknRollMexico.com.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series started as a single race in 1998, and is now the ‘World’s Largest Running Series’ featuring a global tour schedule of 28 events. The race weekend in Mexico City will begin with a two-day Health & Fitness Expo where all participants go to pick up their race number. The expo will feature several running and fitness retailers, exhibits with free nutritional samples and a series of interactive clinics.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Mexico City Half Marathon is now part of a worldwide series of musically themed marathons and half marathons, uniquely combining entertainment and running into a 13.1-mile block party. The event will feature live bands positioned on entertainment stages along every mile of the scenic course, which will start and finish at Hipódromo de las Américas showcasing the city’s green parks, historic landmarks, fashionable shopping districts and vibrant neighbourhoods.

Over the 17-year history of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, charity participants have raised more than US$300 million for a variety of worthy causes and non-profit organizations.
