SKINS secures two-year deal with US pro triathlete Mary Beth Ellis

Leading compression sportswear specialist, SKINS, has announced a two-year partnership with American professional triathlete and eight-time Ironman champion Mary Beth Ellis. Ellis, 36, joins SKINS’ elite roster of endurance athletes, which includes Leanda Cave, Christian Kemp and Kevin Collington. Ellis will wear SKINS for both active use and recovery.

“Mary Beth Ellis’ accomplishments speak volumes about her place as one of the top triathletes in the world today,” said Dani Said, Senior Marketing Director at SKINS North America. “Her continued dedication to being the best triathlete in the world coincides with SKINS’ commitment to provide our athletes and consumers with only the very best in gradient compression in helping them reach their fitness potential.”

Since 2011, Ellis has tallied eight career Ironman wins, as well as six victories at IM 70.3. She has the distinction of finishing no lower than second in every Ironman-sanctioned event she has started and finished – outside of the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

In 2012, Ellis finished a career best fifth at the Ironman World Championship and was seeking a consecutive top-five finish last year, when a cycling accident sent her to a local hospital only weeks before race day. Despite injuries to her shoulder and collarbone sustained in the crash, Ellis started the race, but eventually was forced to withdraw.

A graduate of Northwestern University, Ellis lives and trains in Boulder, Colorado.

“I’ve been using SKINS products for years and have always thought they were far and away the best compression brand on the market,” said Ellis. “I feel very fortunate to work with a brand and a team I genuinely admire. I’m very excited to be part of the SKINS family.”

Originally developed in Australia in 1996, the SKINS brand was designed to take on a massive challenge: create a sports garment that improved performance and aided recovery. SKINS invested heavily in research to make this happen and is now ‘Australia’s leading therapeutic compression brand’ and is gaining similar recognition around the world.

Bringing its unique line of performance apparel to the United States in 2007, SKINS continues to make its number one focus research and development – in order to improve, rigorously test and expand its range of products.
