Sports Media and Entertainment 360 (SME360) has unveiled beyondblue as the official charity of the National Corporate Triathlon Series in Australia, helping to put a focus on mental health awareness in the workplace.
The National Corporate Triathlon Series encourages employees to participate in a fun triathlon – as a relay team or individually – for a collaborative team time. The national series boasts races in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Gold Coast with over 10,000 corporate competitors nationwide. Not only does it challenge the participants to be fit and active, there is also ‘plenty of laughter, encouragement and camaraderie to be shared amongst competitors’.
Employees can visit the beyondblue website to access a range of useful tools to encourage employees to take action and raise awareness to reduce the stigma, prejudice and discrimination around mental health issues. beyondblue supports those seeking to manage their mental health conditions and create a supportive workplace culture. Participants of the National Corporate Triathlon Series have the opportunity to fundraise or donate funds to beyondblue with their team registration.
Research reveals that 3 million Australians are living with a mental health condition at any one time. Exercise, mindfulness and a healthy diet can alleviate the symptoms of depression and anxiety. By participating in the event, individuals and teams will work towards a common goal of completing an enticer distance triathlon. On completion of the triathlon, the organising team at SME360 add that competitors should feel a sense of achievement, elation and reward as they cross the line with their colleagues. Participants will also have the opportunity to network, socialise and share stories of their triathlon experience with fellow corporates.
