CEO Challenges, a leading organiser of sports events for CEOs and the business community has unveiled its finalised schedule for 2009, incorporating triathlons, Ironman 70.3 races and full Ironman races. With over 20 events on offer in 2009, triathlon has become a key component to events organised by CEO Challenges.
Events are to be held across the globe, ranging from Ironman 70.3 races in the US and Canada, through to Ironman Switzerland, the XTERRA World Championships in Maui and finishing with the Laguna Phuket Triathlon in Thailand at the end of the year.
“Each year is better than the one before and each challenge continues to be better than the last,” said Ted Kennedy, CEO Challenges President. “We plan to carry this energy into 2009 with some exciting new CEO Challenges. Plus, we are very excited about our new relationship with five-time world triathlon champion Simon Lessing, who will provide on-site support to the CEOs at many of the triathlon events. We can hardly wait to get started,” he added.
In 2008, up to 140 executives representing 13 nationalities travelled to locations around the world to participate in 12 CEO Challenges, including the US Virgin Islands, Canada, Singapore and France. Despite challenges faced within the global economy, and the banking and insurance industry in particular, AIG Private Client Group has returned again as the title sponsor of CEO Challenges in 2009.
In addition to AIG Private Client Group, CEO Challenges is supported by Boulder Coaching, the multisport training company owned and operated by five-time triathlon world champion Simon Lessing. Other sponsors include: Capital Value, a business consulting firm; Colorado Multisport, a full-service triathlon shop; business leader magazine Fast Company; limousine service Fortis Riders; and Zeal Optics, a leading polarized eyewear provider.
New for 2009 is the CEO Corporate Challenge, a three-person swim/bike/run triathlon relay at selected events. All three must be from the same company, and one of the three must be the CEO or President of that company. In a company versus company competition, awards will be given in both an Open category and Mixed (at least one female).
