Carbon frameset specialist Isaac has issued a voluntary service recall as ‘a precautionary measure to ensure full compatibility between fork steerers, fork expanders and handlebar stems.’
All Isaac forks must be returned to an Isaac dealer to be checked before further use, and fork expanders must be exchanged. Isaac dealers shall assess the condition and wall thickness of all Isaac carbon fork steerers, allowing any damaged or dimensionally incorrect forks to be replaced.
According to Isaac, the recall is due to the company becoming aware of improper assembly (specifically if the steerer was cut too short on certain stems) rather than a fault with its components per se.
"The recall is not due to any fault particular to Isaac products," said David Palk of Isaac’s technical support. "It is due to the fact that incorrect bike assembly, inappropriate stem set-up and/or fitting of incompatible stems might potentially cause damage to carbon steerers, thus compromising rider safety.”
