World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) has confirmed a partnership with Race Day Wheels (RDW) as the official wheel rental partner for the 2009 Ironman race season. Race Day Wheels will be in the expo for all WTC events, with wheels available for rent and purchase.
Race Day Wheels gives athletes a ‘try before you buy’ opportunity to race on the latest carbon wheels. For the past four years, RDW has teamed up with Zipp Speed Weaponry. According to RDW this is because of Zipp’s production of the ‘greatest wheel designs available, utilising leading technology to bring functionality and diversity to an entire line of products.’
RDW president and former pro-triathlete, Marc Lees, commented, “RDW is excited to partner with WTC for the 2009 season to increase triathletes’ understanding of wheel choices and make the best decisions based on their needs.”
RDW rents the full line of Zipp clincher and tubular wheels, including Clydesdales, Power Tap, 1080s and the new Sub 9 disc, ready to race with tires. Rentals start from US$145 (€107) and are available year-round for all cycling and triathlon events, within the United States.
For convenience, customers that have pre-booked wheels for the events will be able to pick up wheels prior to and drop them off at the RDW booth after their race. RDW mechanics are on hand to fit the wheels.
