Raelert signs with Blue

Blue Competition Cycles has signed a sponsorship contract with triathlete Andreas Raelert as he continues to transition from International Triathlon Union (ITU) racing to the 70.3 and Ironman distances. Raelert, a member of the German triathlon team for both the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, changed his focus to longer races during the 2008 season and was rewarded with victories at 70.3 Monaco and Ironman Arizona. Raelert also placed second at the 70.3 World Championships.

“With Andreas’ success in both Olympic Distance ITU and most recently in non-draft Ironman and 70.3 triathlon racing, he has proven he has the ability to win at the highest level of the sport.” said Chance Regina of Blue Competition Cycles. “In the US, Blue has been growing by leaps and bounds over the last few years and we would like to begin growing our brand globally. Andreas is the perfect athlete to showcase our world class products, such as the wind-tunnel designed and tested carbon fibre Triad he will be using at non-drafting events, such as St Anthony’s, Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt, as well as Ironman World Championships in Kona.”

“I am thrilled to be riding Blue Competition Cycles. This opportunity could not have come at a better time,” said Raelert. “My strength as a triathlete is certainly my running, but I know in order to win at Frankfurt and Kona I have to be there in all three disciplines. With the Triad I know I have a bike which is as fast as anything on the market. Include the fact I have been properly fitted to it in the A2 wind-tunnel, like other Triad buyers, and I know at the end of 112 miles I will be with the leaders in T2, but will also have fresh legs while taking advantage of my running strength.”

Andreas Raelert began his season on board a Blue RC8 at the ITU opener in Mooloolaba, Australia on 28 March where he finished 7th. He has now begun his training for Ironman Frankfurt which takes place in early July, and will debut on the Triad at St Anthony’s in St Petersburg, Florida on 26 April.
