Following two reports of accidents giving rise to facial damage and head injuries, retailer Recreational Equipment Inc (REI) and the US Consumer Products Safety Commission have recalled the 2005 model Novara Trionfo road bike.
Around 260 bikes, with Aprebic carbon fibre forks, are subject to the recall. The Novara Trionfo 2005 road bike’s fork can reportedly be liable to separate from the steerer tube. This in turn can cause the rider to lose control and may pose a fall hazard.
This recall specifically concerns the 2005 Novara Trionfo, which sold for US$720 to US$1,900 in REI stores from January 2005 to August 2006.
The bicycles are blue and white with black forks, and have the name ‘Novara’ printed on the bars.
