Renegade Racing to manage Pasadena Marathon and contributes to community

Irvine, California-based race management company Renegade Racing has signed a management contract for the Pasadena Marathon, to be held on 21 February 2010. Renegade Racing is working with the non-profit organisation Pasadena Forward and the City of Pasadena to produce the relatively new race.

The Pasadena Marathon is the catch-all name for a number of events that will be held on 21 February, which include a marathon (26.2 mile run), half marathon (13.1 mile run), 5K run and a marathon bike tour.

Renegade Racing produces many local running and triathlon events in Irvine and the Greater Orange County and Los Angeles area. Many local non-profit organisations hire Renegade Racing to produce events, such as the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation’s Cinco de Mayo half marathon (www.pcrf-kids.org) in Irvine and the Tustin Public Schools Foundation’s Dinosaur Dash (www.tpsf.net).

The company also supports many local non-profit groups for those events that Renegade Racing wholly owns, such as BJ’s Restaurant Foundation and Pathways Church for the Make Room for Santa Run on 13 December 2009 in Irvine, Olive Crest’s Fun and Fit Program and the Orange County Conservation Corps for the Peters Canyon Summer Trail Run Series (June, July & Aug) in Tustin.

Owner and Race Director Jonathan Pauley, a long time Orange County resident, loves working with non-profits on running and walking events. “In a well-managed event you can really see participants connect with the charitable cause; the smile on their face, the feeling of personal accomplishment and charitable giving makes my job totally worthwhile”, he said.

Pauley couples his own participatory experience into his race management style; he has competed in over 30 marathons, 12 Ironman triathlons and countless other running and triathlon events. He has also been on the fundraising side of these kind of events and has raised over US$175,000 for the Challenged Athletes Foundation over the years.
