Five time Ironman winner Heather Gollnick, along with her husband Todd Gollnick and GPS specialist Trakkers have teamed up to create the Revolution 3 Triathlon Series – as a new alternative to 140.6, 70.3 and Olympic Distance races.
"Our immediate goal is to make triathlons a more interactive, enjoyable experience for spectators and family members by providing fun activities for children and family members during the race. We’re about change. Change for the age grouper, change for the professional athlete, and change for the spectators," noted Todd Gollnick, Rev3 Race Director.
Adding further weight to the Rev 3 2010 Series is a partnership with CEO Challenges, the world leader in sport competitions designed for CEOs and business owners. CEO Challenges has confirmed that it will host exclusive CEO Triathlon Challenges at all three REV3 series events in 2010.
The Revolution 3 Triathlon Series begins in Knoxville, Tennessee, on 9 May 2010. Here, the feature race will be the Olympic Distance Rev (US$50,000 Pro Prize Purse). From Knoxville the series works its way back East to Middlebury, Connecticut, where a Half Distance Rev takes place on Sunday 6 June 2010 (US$150,000 Pro Prize Purse).
The climax of the series will be on 12 September 2010 where a truly family focused event is held at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. The feature race at Cedar Point will be a Full Distance Rev (140.6 miles) and has a US$100,000 Pro Prize Purse.
“We are very happy to partner with Todd and Heather Gollnick and the Rev3 Team to host CEO Challenge events at all three venues next year,” stated Ted Kennedy, President of CEO Challenges. “These races are all about family and the spectators, and we all know that if the family is happy, the athlete is happy! Plus, thanks to support from Rev3, the events are priced very competitively – the best value for a CEO Challenge we have ever offered.
“In addition, the way the races are set up (Olympic, then Half, then Full), is such a great natural progression for the triathlon season. Finishing well at all three will clearly illustrate who is the best CEO swimmer, biker, and runner. We are excited to see which of our CEO Challenge competitors wins the special Rev3 CEO Challenge series award.”
Rev3 Marketing Director Heather Gollnick added, “We are thrilled to partner with Ted Kennedy and CEO Challenges. I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Ted over the years and have a tremendous amount of respect for his dedication to our sport and his quest to provide first class events for CEOs.”
All Rev3 events utilise the latest Trakkers GPS/athlete tracking technology, which provides real time tracking of participating athletes. This provides an interactive experience for spectators and particularly athlete families who may otherwise be distracted by the amusements and entertainment on offer at Rev3 triathlons!
