German Ironman triathlete Timo Bracht has signed up with Giant for 2009 and will ride Giant’s new prototype triathlon/time trial bike during the 2009 season.
The prototype Giant bike forms a key element to the partnership between the triathlete and the Taiwanese bicycle giant. Designed to meet the specific needs of triathlon and solo efforts against the clock, the composite prototype is also being tested and developed by Team Rabobank time trial riders at the highest level of professional competition.
“Right now I’m training in Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands,” Bracht said. “My main goal now is to load my legs up with a lot of kilometres. I’m doing base training miles with both my Giant road bike and with the hot new Giant TT bike.”
Bracht noted on his website, “After thousands of test miles, I am totally thrilled. I have a really great new partner, and I’m very proud to cooperate with the guys. My new road bike is the TCR Advanced SL and the time trial cycle is the Trinity SL.”
Bracht added, “I am really proud to be working with Giant. It’s a great company with a huge influence in the bike industry. I’m looking forward to improving my bike splits and having Giant help me push my limits.”
Last year Bracht finished third at the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt, Germany, posting a personal best time. A victory in Frankfurt this year is one of his top goals for the 2009 season. Bracht’s first major event of the year is the Challenge Triathlon in Barcelona, Spain, on 10 May.
