Following a successful partnership in 2008, One Step Beyond Promotions has confirmed that Wrigley’s Airwaves has again agreed to support The British Disabled Triathlon Championships, part of The Rother Valley Triathlon Festival.
Adam Moffat, Director of One Step Beyond Promotions, said, “We are delighted Wrigley’s Airwaves have continued their support of the British Disabled Championships. The agreement made with Wrigley’s Airwaves is another step forward in the constant development of inclusive participation which One Step Beyond, alongside the National Governing Body, is striving to achieve.”
This year’s triathlon festival held at Rother Valley Country Park on 6-7 June 2009 has been slightly streamlined but will still consist of 6 individual multi-sport events, aimed at all ages and abilities. The Disabled Championships have been moved onto Day 1 of the fully inclusive festival, which will also consist of a Tot’s Scootathlon, Children’s & Women’s Only Open Water events, before kicking into the Sprint & Standard distance events on Day 2.
Under the British Triathlon Disability Classification System competitors will once again be competing for nine individual British titles. The aim is to have 50 athletes competing in this year’s British Disabled Triathlon Championships supported by Wrigley’s Airwaves come June.
Toby Baker, Marketing Director for Wrigley said of the sponsorship, “Wrigley’s Airwaves is proud to be supporting The British Disabled Triathlon again this year. The partnership is a perfect alliance between a high intensity competition that challenges competitors both mentally and physically, and a great range of chewing gum products that have been developed to give you an “intense kick” leaving you feeling invigorated and ready for anything. Airwaves look forward to an extremely successful event.”
Julian Wills, National Equity Manager of British Triathlon added, “We are delighted with the progressive development of the British Triathlon Disabled Championships. This year’s National titles will be very competitive, with strongly contested races throughout the classifications. Many of the competitors are competing at the European and World Triathlon Championships later in the year, and want to go out to the events as National Champions.”
