Thanks to a collaboration between CEO Challenges and the Amica 19.7 Sprint Triathlon Series, hundreds of CEOs will be able to take on their first ever triathlon.
The Amica 19.7 is a series of short ‘entry level’ triathlons designed to attract people who have the desire to complete a triathlon, but are daunted by the Olympic, Half, or Full Ironman distance. Each race consists of a 0.5 mile swim, 16.1 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run (19.7 miles).
"For years we have been looking for a way to attract more CEOs to the incredible sport of triathlon," stated Ted Kennedy, President of CEO Challenges. "Even though they are entering middle age and would love to get back into shape, the CEOs we talked to were nervous about taking on all the training required to finish even a mid-distance triathlon.
“Now, through our partnership with the Amica 19.7 Series, we can finally offer them the opportunity to race with us in a triathlon that is, quick frankly, very do-able."
The Amica 19.7 Series takes place in 10 major cities throughout the USA in 2010, and plans are in place to add more locations in 2011. Starting with the Phoenix event in November 2010, each race will now provide CEOs the option (at no extra cost) to sign up for the Chartis CEO Triathlon Challenge.
The CEO Challenge includes many great perks, such as special coloured swim caps for easy identification, specified bike rack location, no line registration, awards to the top CEO finishers and the title of that city’s ‘Fittest CEO’ passed to the winner.
"We fully support the CEO Triathlon Challenge at each of our race venues," stated John Mathews, President of Eident Sports, organiser of the events. "We love the fact that these CEOs are leading by example, and embracing a culture of health & wellness.
“Working with CEO Challenges, we will also be offering Corporate Relay and Corporate Challenge events designed to include a number of the CEO’s employees. Of course the side benefit to having a fit company is the significant reduction in health care costs, which are quickly becoming one of the major expenses CEOs have to deal with."
Once a person signs up for the CEO Challenge they will be given the option for a number of upgrades designed to make their first race experience truly exceptional, including personal coaching, VIP passes, the option for a Corporate VIP Tent at the finish line, and race-day guidance and support from CEO Challenges’ staff of experienced triathletes (including five-time world triathlon champion Simon Lessing).
To sign up for the Chartis CEO Triathlon Challenge, C-level Executives can simply go to the Amica 19.7 Series website, pick the desired race location, and register online.
