Free event plug-in for multisport clubs

OneSportEvent.com, a free community website for multisport athletes, has created a new plug-in for clubs and sports blogs to introduce an event schedule/calendar onto their websites.

Called OneEvent, the plug-in is positioned as being an easy way of getting real-time public event listings from event organisers onto a personal or club website or blog.

As it is made by sporting enthusiasts for the community, it is completely free and doesn’t contain adverts – you don’t even have to link back to the OneSportEvent.com website.

Club members can also drill through to specific event details without leaving the club website. An integration with Google maps is also planned so members can see the course route as well.

Implementation on club websites is intended to be easy and only four lines of code are needed for the plug-in to be inserted into a webpage. One of the first clubs to adopt the scheme reportedly managed to have it up and running in only 5 minutes. The pre-built plugin also works on popular website platforms, such as Joomla and WordPress.

Although a plain version is also available, the calendar can be customised to fit with the branding of a club/organisation.

In addition to public events such as triathlons and marathons, website administrators can also enter their own club’s schedule and optionally advertise their events on the main website, to potential new members.
