New TRI magazine from H3 launches at Wildflower in May

H3 Publications is adding a third magazine to its road and mountain biking mag portfolio, when TRI magazine hits US news stands in May 2010. "We’ve already got plenty of advertisers on board," said Dave House, owner of H3 Publications.

H3 also owns ROAD and DECLINE magazines, which are respectively dedicated to road cycling and mountain biking. TRI magazine’s new Editor will be Jay Prasuhn who has worked at Triathlete Magazine for the last 10 years, aside for a brief stint at leading US triathlon website and bike fitting specialist Slowtwitch in early 2008. Prasuhn will be joined by photographer John Segesta who is also moving from Triathlete magazine.

"I had met Dave at several industry events over the years," Prasuhn said. "It seemed like he was doing something new and different at TRI. It’s something I wanted to be a part of."

H3’s new magazine will take a similar approach to the ‘coffee table’ appeal of ROAD and DECLINE magazines. TRI will launch at Tri-California Events’ popular Avia Wildflower triathlon, held on 1-2 May 2010 at Lake San Antonio, California. "We’re the official magazine of Wildflower," House added.

H3 will initially deliver 30,000 copies to US news stands and 30,000 as giveaways at events and for other promotional activities. Four issues of TRI mag are planned for this year. For 2011, it is expected that there will be 10 issues plus a Buyers Guide, similar in set up to the publishing models for Decline and Road magazines.
