Triathlon New Zealand (Tri NZ) has added yet another commercial partner, with Choice Hotels tying up with Tri NZ in a move that will benefit tri participants throughout the country.
This latest partnership deal follows the recently announced Tri NZ partnership with Hansells Food Group brand Vitasport, which will see Vitasport isotonic sports drink hydrate and power competitors at Tri NZ events.
Tri NZ is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, aquathon and multisport. The partnership with Choice Hotels includes a range of hotel options and will provide accommodation for participants and Tri NZ at all events throughout the summer.
"After looking into the reasons why we should partner with Tri NZ, it became increasingly obvious that Tri NZ’s passion for a healthy lifestyle and fun really matched with our values in providing a relaxing time away from home,” said Aileen Cobern, General Manager Sales and Marketing for Choice Hotels Australasia.
"With over 35 Econo Lodge, Comfort, Quality and Clarion hotels in New Zealand in 21 locations there is sure to be a hotel or motel available to rest the weary, tired athletic bones in one of our hotels.”
Choice Hotels will also offer TRIBE [Triathlon New Zealand] members and participants throughout the country the added bonus of 50 Fly Buys bonus points every time a TRIBE member stays at a Choice hotel throughout 2011.

Tri NZ Commercial Director Carl Jackson noted that the partnership reflects the continued growth of the sport.

Choice Hotels coming on board will offer genuine benefits to our TRIBE members and add value to their experience of triathlon, whether as a participant, official, or spectator.”
Triathlon New Zealand recently scrapped NZ$10 Tri NZ membership fee and it’s now absolutely free to join TRIBE.
