For the second consecutive year, the USA Triathlon Winter Triathlon National Championship will be held in conjunction with the Bash Winter Tri in Midway, Utah.
The 2011 event is slated for 15 January 2011 and will once again be contested just outside Salt Lake City at Soldier Hollow – the 2002 Winter Olympic venue for cross-country skiing and biathlon.
On the line at Soldier Hollow will be US national titles, as well as spots on Team USA for the 2011 ITU Winter Triathlon World Championship. The national championship will consist of a 5K run, a 10K mountain bike ride and an 8K cross-country skiing leg – all on snow.
The top three male and female American finishers will earn a spot on the US team for the 2011 ITU Elite Winter Triathlon World Championship, and a US$3,000 prize purse will be split between the top three finishers per gender.
To be eligible for selection to the Winter World Championship an athlete does not need to be a licensed elite triathlete, but must be a current USA Triathlon annual member.
