endurance Junkie 2012 team sponsorship

Belgian triathlon brand endurance Junkie, which specialises in long distance triathlon race clothing, is actively developing its own sponsored triathlon racing squad. The brand is looking for 10 top age groupers to wear endurance Junkie’s tri gear during the 2012 season.

“We are already rewarding amateur athletes through our Race and Cashback Offer,” said endurance Junkie Managing Director Peter Brees. “But true top amateurs have the same drive and dedication as the pros, so it is about time we start treating them like pros.”

The 2012 squad will consist of the company’s five current team members, plus 10 new top amateurs from all age groups and major continents. Each athlete will be given a one-year contract with the Junkie Squad consisting of race entry fees and race apparel.

“Athletes who have qualified for the 70.3 Worlds in Las Vegas or Ironman Hawaii have proven that they are on top of their game. We strongly believe that with our support and our gear – designed for maximum breathability, body temperature control and total freedom of movement – they will be able to race to their full potential in 2012,” Brees added.

To apply, athletes must simply fill in the Squad Application web form and include a couple of action pictures. Applications are being accepted until 31 October 2011, and the team will be unveiled on 2 December.

endurance Junkie is a Belgian private limited company (b.v.b.a.) founded in February 2010. It is the brainchild of the current Managing Director, Peter Brees, a long-time triathlete and multiple Ironman finisher. The company’s headquarters are situated in Haaltert, a ‘serene little town’ about 20 minutes from Brussels.

endurance Junkie’s aim is to develop, manufacture and sell the best triathlon gear available on the market – focusing on quality, performance and design – based on its passion for the sport and guided by its core values of: Passion, Performance, Design and Integrity.

The company’s story ‘started with a very ordinary idea and will hopefully grow from a very simple beginning.’ endurance Junkie’s first core product is the Sportwool Tri Suit. Available in both a men’s and women’s cut, the tri suit combines high performance with distinctive styling and provides maximum moisture wicking properties, body temperature control and wearer comfort.

endurance Junkie believes that the use of Sportwool is totally unique in a triathlon race suit. The company notes that, ‘according to other manufacturers, a tri suit is supposed to be slick through the water. But what’s the point when 99% of the time, triathletes wear a wetsuit over it for the swim? We rather believe comfort is key when you’re out on the course all day. We believe in maximum performance on the bike and on the run.’
