New Aqua Sphere K180 – curved lense, small socket goggle

Recognised for its pursuit of innovation to ‘enhance the swim experience for everyone’, aquatic expert Aqua Sphere is unveiling the K180 – billed as the first ever hydrodynamic small socket goggle with asymmetrical and anatomical curved lenses. According to Aqua Sphere, this latest goggle innovation combines outstanding wraparound vision with the most comfortable and natural fit possible.

Aqua Sphere has been highly regarded for many years, for its ground-breaking eyewear that uses clever curved lenses to deliver a full 180 degrees of vision. The K180 is its first ever small socket goggle and it has been devised to not only offer a wider field of vision than current racing or competitive goggles but to deliver superior performance because it sits very close to the eye.

Commenting on the new product launch, Aqua Sphere UK’s Sales & Marketing Manager, Martin Newton told triathlonbusiness that “Aqua Sphere is committed to continually raising the bar in new product development. The K180 goggles combine hydrodynamic and streamlined virtues with innovative wraparound visibility. Whilst performance and speed is key, the goggles haven’t compromised on our trademark comfort and we are excited to see them appreciated by all levels of swimmer.”

Using an ultra-soft proprietary composite material, the K180 follows the natural line of the eye socket, ensuring the goggles feel completely secure and stable, even during pool dives and turns, and can be worn for extended periods with minimal discomfort. According to the company, the curved lenses, integrated side loops and low profile buckles also create a more hydrodynamic profile than current options on the market because the latter have flat face lenses and their inherent corners and edges reduce their streamlining capability.

Available with clear or tinted lenses, the K180 is being packaged with a useful protective carry case plus three soft interchangeable nose bridges to enable the swimmer to create their perfect fit. A K180+ micro gasket version is also being launched for even faster elite-level racing.

The K180+ micro-gasket is designed to sit even closer to the eye – providing optimum performance and speed through the water. The K180+ is an even smaller, lower profile version of the K180, thus minimising any risk of drag or vortex disturbance.

Both the K180 and K180+ goggles are also available in Lady versions to offer the best possible fit for the female face.

Delivering ‘excellent margins’, the K180 and K180 Lady have an SRP of £19.99 (€23 / US$31 at current exchange rates). The K180+ and K180+ Lady are £24.99 SRP (€28 / US$39). The goggles are available for UK retailers to pre-order now for January delivery. UK retailers can telephone their Aqua Sphere sales contact or call 01254 692200.
