Custom technical apparel company Champion System has created the Athletic Celebrity Team to promote healthy lifestyles and bring greater attention to endurance sports. A.C.T. Powered by Champion System is a collection of personalities from the big and small screens who will participate in various endurance events in 2012.
A.C.T. members will participate in events including the Revolution3 28-hour Adventure Race as well as other Rev3 triathlons, L’Etape du California at the Amgen Tour of California, and the Wildflower Triathlon.
The mission of the team is twofold. For event organizers, having members of A.C.T. Powered by Champion System appear at a race will generate buzz. Not only will spectators be able to meet some of their favourite celebrities, but participants will be able to compete alongside them. Opportunities will also be available where A.C.T. members can team up with participants in relay events.
The celebrity power will also help spotlight the many charitable initiatives tied to endurance events, as well as help motivate people to lead healthier lifestyles.
The A.C.T. powered by Champion System squad comprises TV and film actors featured in, among others, ‘Franklin and Bash’, ‘My Name is Earl’, ‘The Brothers McMullen’, and ‘Saved by the Bell’; alonsgide US news anchors and participants in a host of reality programs including ‘Survivor’ and ‘The Amazing Race’.
Sarah Leshner, who appeared on The Amazing Race, was a cross-country runner and track-and-field athlete at the University of Pennsylvania. “Teaming up with Champion System to participate on the Athletic Celebrity Team is the perfect way to collaborate with my fellow reality TV alumni and other celebrities to promote a love of athletics, competition and healthy living,” Leshner said.
