Bahrain Triathlon Challenge Series

The third and final event of the Bahrain Triathlon Challenge 2011 is scheduled for 16 December at Durrat Al Bahrain. The event, organised by OC Sport-Bahrain, aims to raise the profile for triathlon in Bahrain and the wider Gulf region.

Bahrain Triathlon Challenge Event Director, Mr Adnan Al Qassab told triathlonbusiness.com that the series aims are both commercial and charitable. Event proceeds will be donated to the Bahrain Cancer Society and Ria Autism Centre – to support cancer and autism patients in Bahrain.

2011 Bahrain Triathlon Challenge series dates:

  • Friday 14 October 2011
  • Friday 11 November 2011
  • Friday 16 December 2011

Al Qassab added that, for its inaugural year, it was “very important to have the series open to all, with a range of distances and race formats on offer.”

Friday 14 October 2011 involved a Sprint Triathlon (750m swim / 20K bike / 5K run). The 11 November event was scheduled as an Olympic Triathlon (1.5K swim / 40K bike / 10K run). On Friday 16 December, OC Sport-Bahrain is putting on a Half Iron Triathlon (1.9K swim / 90K bike / 21.1K run).

On the same day at each event, additional races are organised in tandem:

  • Try a Tri: 300m swim / 10K bike / 3K run
  • Walkathon: 5K (11+ years)

A Sprint Triathlon shall also take place in December in tandem with the Half Iron distance event.

Pricing
Juniors (11 to 15): Individual : BD 6 (US$16) per athlete.
Juniors (11 to 15): Team entry : BD 9 per team.
Individual – adult (16+): BD 10 per athlete
Team entry – adult (16+): BD 12 per team.
Walkers (11+ years): BD 2
