The British Triathlon Annual Awards Dinner celebrates success across all areas of triathlon, and one of the most sought after awards is the title of British Triathlon Event of the Year. Past winners have included the famous Toshiba Windsor Triathlon and a firm favourite amongst many triathletes the Club Relays.
The award is not for the event with most competitors, or that which has the biggest budget, but for those organisers that go that extra step to making their event stand out from the rest.
The award winner will be announced at the British Triathlon Annual Awards dinner to be held on 12 November at the Barceló Hinckley Island Hotel. Tickets are still available and can be purchased through the British Triathlon shop at www.britishtriathlon.org/shop.

Cowman, promoted by Big Cow Events
Big Cow events are well known on the triathlon circuit, with a history of delivering quality events in and around Milton Keynes. This year’s event hosted the British Middle Distance Championships at Emberton Park, and as always provided quality racing at great value, a hallmark of the work the Big Cow events do annually.
The Outlaw, promoted by One Step Beyond
Taking on long distance triathlons is an ambitious undertaking, but One Step Beyond not only pulled it off with the Outlaw but actually set themselves apart by focusing on providing a high quality, friendly and well-priced event in the surrounds of Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham. The Outlaw has created a unique brand for itself, which will no doubt go from strength to strength over the coming years.
Durty Triathlon, promoted by Scottish Borders Triathletes
The Durty Triathlon is now a firm fixture on the cross triathlon fixture list in the UK, and in 2010 hosted the inaugural British Championships. The event provides a complete cross triathlon experience, with a challenging course combined with an excellent atmosphere.
Snowdonia Slateman Triathlon, promoted by Always Aim High
A new event for 2011, the Snowdonia Slateman, set in the breath-taking location of Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon, comprised a 750m open water mountain lake swim, 51K stunning road cycle incorporating the amazing Llanberis Pass and Ogwen Valley, and finally a gorgeous and gruelling 11K run through the world famous Dinorwig Slate Quarries and Padarn Country Park.
Tri Together, promoted by Leonard Cheshire Disability
Tri Together was another new event for 2011, promoted by an organisation new to triathlon. Focused on demonstrating that people with disabilities can take part in triathlon by driving inclusiveness and accessibility as its core values, Tri Together utilised an extremely effective marketing plan to become widely known within and engaged with the triathlon community.
In total 27 events put forward a nomination for the awards, making 2011 the most contested British Triathlon Event of the Year so far. Each event demonstrated its commitment to delivering a high quality experience to not only competitors but also volunteers and spectators, a core value of the Home Nations Associations and British Triathlon.
