Campagnolo has signed a worldwide sponsor partnership with teamTBB, to become teamTBB’s official drivetrain and wheel supplier.
Singapore-based teamTBB is a major player in professional triathlon, representing and managing 20 athletes of 10 nationalities. It is also committed to social programs for young people in countries as diverse as Brazil, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia. It is understood that, under the deal, Campagnolo will also assist TBB’s social programs.
Earlier this year, apparel and compression specialist 2XU signed an exclusive two year agreement to become the Official Performance Apparel Supplier of the highly acclaimed teamTBB international triathlon team.
Commenting on this latest deal, Campagnolo’s Marketing and Communication Director Lorenzo Taxis, said “It’s great to be able to participate with teamTBB. The work Alex Bok and his staff are doing to promote cycling awareness and sport in Asia and around the world is inspirational and we are excited to provide them with the highest level cycling technology available.”
Alex Bok, owner of Team TBB and The Bike Boutique, added, “We welcome Campagnolo whole-heartedly. We’ve seen how triathletes in search of their ultimate performance rely on Campagnolo for premier drivetrain and wheel performance. We think our athletes should have equipment that frees them to give their best.”
TeamTBB’s 2011 calendar comprises 200 races in 5 continents. Ironman is the team’s main focus – it aims for its athletes to take part in 80% of the world’s full Ironman, and 40% of global Ironman 70.3 events. Since the inception of the team back in 2007, it has garnered 4 World Championship wins (IM Hawaii 2007, 2008 and ITU Long Distance 2007, 2010), 34 Ironman wins, 20 Ironman 70.3 wins, 7 Challenge Family event wins and 50 other international wins.
Among its top athletes are Caroline Steffen (GER), Jodie Swallow (GBR), Amy Marsh (USA), Mary Beth Ellis (USA), Rebekah Keat (AUS), James Cunnama (RSA) and Aaron Farlow (AUS).
In addition to its professional and amateur athlete programmes, teamTBB works to bolster youth participation in multisport events through its social development projects and its franchise, The Bike Boutique. The Bike Boutique not only sells bikes and bike accessories, but also provides lifestyle services to bike enthusiasts and encourages cycling as a means of transportation.
