International Triathlon Coaching Association helps non-profit events

The International Triathlon Coaching Association (ITCA) is focusing its online coach training program to help the growing number of non-profits that are turning to triathlons and other races as fundraisers. The online course from ITCA incorporates science, application and successful business models.

More than ever, non-profits and charities are turning to triathlons and other endurance races for their major fundraising efforts. Whether it’s a sprint distance, an Olympic distance triathlon or an Ironman race, the International Triathlon Coaching Association (ITCA) can educate and certify coaches to help athletes and participants compete both safely and successfully.

According to ITCA, the comprehensive online triathlon coach training teaches coaches how to safely prepare athletes for races of any distance, including education on individual history and goals, personal milestones, appropriate pace training zones and heart rate training zones as well as the science of kinesiology, biomechanics, aerodynamics, nutrition and sports psychology that can all impact race performance.

“Whether it’s a race to support breast cancer research, the prevention of heart disease or diabetes, or a local cause, triathlons and endurance events make great fundraisers – they are fun to support, fun to watch and fun to participate in,” said John Spencer Ellis, founder of ITCA and John Spencer Ellis Enterprises, a leading fitness and personal development solutions company.

He continued, “Training, however, should be safe and effective as well as fun, which is why having a credentialed and trained coach is so important for athletes of all levels.”

The International Triathlon Coaching Association (ITCA) is the triathlon certification division of the (US) National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association, or NESTA. ITCA was formed in 2008 to be a leading source of triathlon coaching certification and business development for new and advancing triathlon coaches.

Since 1992, NESTA has been a leader in innovative solutions for sports and fitness professionals. Now, claiming more than 55,000 members in 55 countries, it is one of the largest fitness associations in the world, and is billed as ‘the fastest growing association of its kind in the United States.
