Nation’s Triathlon First Responders Challenge

The Nation’s Triathlon announced today that the 2011 race, which takes place on Sunday, September 11, will feature the first-ever First Responders Challenge, in honour of the heroes who served so bravely during the 9-11 terrorist attacks on the US.

This year’s race falls on the 10th anniversary of the attacks, which claimed the lives of 403 first responders who took part in rescue operations at the Pentagon and World Trade Towers.

According to Molly Quinn, owner of The Nation’s Triathlon, “This year’s race falls on the 10th anniversary of 9-11, a day that changed our nation forever. We all remember where we were that day, and we all remember the bravery of those who rushed to the scene to respond to the attacks.

“Their quick action saved thousands of lives and we are grateful as a nation for their service and dedication. The First Responders Challenge is a way for others in that community to pay respect to those who lost their lives and to honour their memory.”

To register for the Nation’s Triathlon First Responders Challenge, triathletes can visit www.nationstri.com. Those interested are urged to register quickly as the race is 93% sold out.

Police officers, fire fighters, emergency medical personnel are invited to form teams or compete singly. Teams can include one, two or three competitors who would divide the various legs of the race (swim, bike, run) and must be comprised of police officers, fire fighters, emergency medical personnel or other first responders.
