Scott Sports has signed Swiss ultra-distance runner David Girardet to wear and run Scott products during the 2011/12 race season.
The New Year also sees French trail running specialist Pascal Giguet become the official leader of the newly formed Team Trail-SCOTT.
During 2010 Giguet ran for the Team Hoka pro-trail running team. However, after testing the new Scott running shoes (the eRide Grip and the new T2C in particular) he converted to Scott.
As the new Brand Ambassador for Scott France, trail runner Giguet will play a key role in future product communication and promotion activities for retailers and at events.
Ultra-runner David Girardet will run shorter races in the new Scott T2C shoe. For the mid to long-distance races he prefers the eRide Trainer, because of its smooth ride and perfect fit to his feet.
After a short recovery period in December, Girardet now looks now ready to defend his national title in Biel (100K) in June 2011. In addition to that he will participate this year at the ING New York City Marathon.
“David is one of the nicest and most authentic runners, here in Switzerland. It’s a pleasure to have him back at Scott and I am expecting a couple of strong results during 2011/12,” said Scott’s Product Manager Running David Borrmann.
After his career as a duathlete and triathlete with three participations at the legendary Ironman Hawaii World Championships, Girardet is owner of Trilogie Sport, a specialty running store in Belfaux, next to Fribourg.
Trail runner Pascal Giguet began his athletic career as a cyclist (with a 1995 victory at Paris-Tours), but switched to triathlon during 2004. In addition to various victories in different races he twice placed in the top 10 at the legendary Embrunman long distance triathlon in France.
By 2005 Giguet had become addicted to trail and mountain racing and won both the Annecime and the Montblanc Marathon. In 2010 he finished 5th at the ‘Sainte Lyon’ in December and then 9th at the ‘Trails des Templiers’.
