In the 2011 Idroman race, with its strapline ‘Alive in hell’, event organisers in Italy are championing ‘an amazing bike course, magically touching the lakes of Idro, Valvestito and Garda via a single lap.’
The event boasts a unique natural setting, with an altitude of 1870 meters surrounded by nature reserves and parks in the Brescia area.
Idroman 2011 also crosses the ancient towns of Idro, Capovalle, Valvestino, Gargnano and Magasa.
Taking place on Sunday 26 June, Idroman 2011 includes the main middle distance (half iron distance) with a 1.9K swim, 90K bike and 21K run. The Sprint version comprises a 0.75K swim, 20K bike and 50K run.
For 2011, the running course has been redesigned and now includes a ‘completely flat cycle-pedestrian track that runs along the south side of Lake Idro with some characteristic steps on bridges and boardwalks as well as in the charming historical centre of the local town.’
Taking advantage of tourism in the region, the Idroman 2011 organisation machinery is now getting into gear with a variety of accommodation on offer in the area – from hotels, villas, pensions, bed & breakfast and farm holiday stays.
The all-new Swimming Centre Narciso Idronuoto, will also be available before and after the race for rest and relaxation.
