Tri4Japan, which is dedicated to help the people of Kamaishi, devastated by the recent earthquake and tsunami, has now been active for just over one week. The charity has already made significant progress in this short time.
In North America, Emilio De Soto has joined as Head of Fundraising, which will pay dividends in the coming days and weeks.
Tri4Japan has some other great news and is striding forward to raise much needed money.
The charity has received a single donation of US$25,000 from Optima Capital – a merchant banking and private equity firm based in Singapore.
Tri4Japan has designed and ordered 2,000 t-shirts with all the donations for these going to the charity.
De Soto is making 500 cycle jerseys of which all profits will go to the charity.
Newton Running has agreed to make 1,000 original running shoes; again all profits will go to the charity.
Big Triathlon Ebay Auction
The ‘Big Triathlon Ebay Auction’ has now been launched:
• Canondale and Chrissie Wellington have agreed to make and sign a limited edition 50 posters.
• Orca, 2XU, blueseventy, Speedo and Xterra have all agreed to donate wetsuits to the auction.
• Ironman Canada will be donating 5 places to the 2012 race.
These are just a sample of the lots Tri4Japan will be auctioning off on 1 August 2012. The list is growing and shall be updated via the Tri4Japan website and Facebook page.
Events
Tri4Japan wants to sign up events that will donate at least two entries to the charity. So far:
• Ironman UK is offering 3 entries and accommodation
• Cotswold 113 is offering two places
• Thames Turbo Triathlon is offering 5 places
• Open Water Swim UK is offering all of its June Aquathon entry fees
• Italy AronaMen 112.9 Triathlon is offering two places

Triathlon clubs
Tri4Japan wants triathlon clubs to pledge their support. So far, in the UK, two have confirmed – Berkshire Tri Squad and B2P Tri Club. Tri4Japan wants lots more!
Retailers
The charity also wants retailers to commit their support. The following UK retailers have agreed to ask for a voluntary donation, on the charity’s behalf, at their checkout desk, for a limited period:
