TriStar, the fast-growing triathlon race format owned by Monaco based Star Production SARL, is hitting France on 10 July 2011. The inaugural TriStar Lyon includes both a 111K and 55.5K race.
“We’re excited to host a TriStar race in France, one of Europe’s most important triathlon nations,” said Georg Hochegger, CEO and founder of Star Production SARL.
Lyon is the second most important metropolitan area in France after that of Paris and is situated in east-central France. Lyon is the capital of the Rhône-Alpes region. The city is known for its historical and architectural landmarks, is a Unesco World Heritage Site, and has developed a reputation as the capital of gastronomy in France.
From today, the Star&Co Village opens its gates to all athletes and those who are simply curious about ‘the whole universe of triathlon’. A number of exhibitors shall be on hand to present a wide range of innovative products. From 09:00 to 18:00, the first athletes can collect their race packs at the main registration stand.
A press conference will take place at 11:00 at the City Hall in the presence of Mr Thierry Braillard who is in charge of Sports for the city of Lyon. This conference will see some of today’s best triathletes meet in one room: Sylvain Sudrie, the world champion in ITU Long Distance and recent Champion of France; François Chabaud whose star shined brightly at the Ironman France 2011 where he finished second; Joel Jameson, a TriStar ambassador who occupied 9th position in the last TriStar111 on Mallorca; Christine Hemphill, Australian professional, and Adeline Rausis the young Swiss whose progress can be seen from race to race.
On 10 July 2011, the TriStar111 and TriStar55.5 races will both be held on the same circuit in Lyon, with one loop for each discipline in the TriStar55.5 race, and two loops for the TriStar111 Lyon event.
