Texas based sports nutrition specialist EnergyLab appears to be the latest company to reach a nutrition sponsorship deal with Ironman. EnergyLab has just released the following statement on its Facebook page:
ENERGYLAB partners with IRONMAN!! A dream that seemed light years away has come true today! Energylab made the leap to partner with the most elite Triathlon Racing platform in the world, IRONMAN. We are honored to be part of the 2012 IRONMAN Season, with our official debut at Ironman Texas. Please come visit us in Expo at Ironman Texas, Ironman Hawaii, Ironman Worlds 70.3 Vegas, Ironman Florida, Ironman Austin 70.3, Boulder Peak, and Galveston 5150. Our team is beyond excited to introduce Energylab to you this year!
Based out of Houston, Texas, EnergyLab is a newcomer to the highly competitive and fragmented sports nutrition market. The company positions itself as ‘a new valiant opponent [to have] entered the market setting the new standard in endurance and extreme sports science.’ EnergyLab launched in summer 2011 hitting stores nationwide across the US.
“Historical companies with dated formulas based on old school science better be on the lookout,” said Kevin Barr, the EnergyLab’s President and CEO, at the unveiling of the company last year. “We have done the research and listened to what athletes are saying from all arenas. There is an apparent void in the market for new products based on cutting edge science. No question, we have spared no expense and are filling this void!”
Barr added, “We are setting the new standard in pre-workout formulas specifically designed for athletes in endurance sports that don’t want harmful stimulants. Not only does it work, but the taste is refreshing.”
This latest nutrition deal with Ironman adds to recent agreements inked with GU Energy as official on-course energy gel and energy chew supplier in the United States, alongside the earlier deal with Bonk Breaker as Ironman’s official energy bar.
