110% Give Harder Foundation fights cancer

110%, the creator of the rapidly growing innovative line of Compression + Ice gear, has established the 110% Give Harder Foundation. Inspired by the company’s mission to give athletes the tools to play harder, the new foundation seeks to motivate, inspire and lead others to live more active lifestyles while simultaneouslygiving back to the community.

As an inaugural challenge, the 110% Give Harder Foundation (www.110giveharder.com) seeks to raise US$110,000 for donation to the 26.2 with Donna Foundation. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the foundation to support breast cancer research and the individuals currently fighting the disease.

On Saturday 11 February 2012, the 110% team of dedicated philanthropists led by the company’s founders, Jim Philip and David Green, will set out on a 110 mile running journey. Each runner will run approximately 84 miles through the night with the goal of reaching the finish line of the 2012 Donna Marathon starting on 12 February.

Running a distance that equates to 4.2 back-to-back marathons, the runners will complete their 110 mile journey with the final 26.2 along the inspiring Donna Marathon course. Running alongside the solo runners, several relay teams will divide and conquer the 110 mile course and provide support and motivation along the way.

The Donna Foundation was created in Jacksonville, Florida by news anchor and breast cancer survivor, Donna Deegan. The foundation raises money for cutting-edge breast cancer research and for the local community’s women living with breast cancer who struggle to make ends meet.

The Donna Foundation makes amounts payable to the women’s mortgage company, utilities carrier, doctor’s visits, and related expenses to alleviate some of the stress associated with the high costs of cancer treatment. In turn, this allows the cancer patients to focus more of their time cherishing their family and loved ones.

The 110% Give Harder Foundation will raise funds by leveraging individual fundraising efforts of the solo runners and relay teams with corporate matching commitments. If the 110% Give Harder team succeeds in achieving the fundraising target of US$110,000, it will help the Donna Foundation meet the fundraising requirement to receive a generous US$100,000 matching gift commitment from the Weaver Foundation, a foundation supporting causes in the Greensboro area.

“We are up for the challenge that lies ahead of us because we believe that playing harder leads to physical and mental wellness,” said David Green, CEO of 110%. “Through the creation of the 110% Give Harder Foundation, we look forward to this opportunity to give back to our community.”
