TriColumbia, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier endurance event production company, announced yesterday that the ninth annual ChespeakeMan Ultra Distance Triathlon has been named the 2012 USA Triathlon Mid-Atlantic (USATMA) Ultra Distance Triathlon Regional Championship for the second consecutive year.
The ChesapeakeMan Endurance Festival will take place on 29 September 2012 at Great Marsh Park in Cambridge, Maryland, and consists of four endurance events, including the Ultra Distance Championship, Aquabike, Skipjack 75.2 and Bugeye Sprint.
Each year, USATMA selects several events to host its Championships based on venue, ease of transportation and experience of the organization. TriColumbia’s ChesapeakeMan Ultra Distance has been chosen for the past two years due to the scenic course of the event, proximity to local transportation hubs, and reputation of its staff and race directors. The Ultra Distance has also been named a ‘140.6 Best Race’ by Triathlete Magazine.
The ChesapeakeMan Ultra Distance provides a challenging course, with a 2.4 mile swim in the Choptank River in Great Marsh Park, followed by a two-loop, 112-mile cycling experience throughout the flat and windy Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, and a three loop fast and flat marathon run course to the finish.

Registration for the 2012 ChesapeakeMan Ultra Distance is open to 500 participants. Registration is US$375 for USAT members and US$387 for non-members. A three person relay team is US$495 for USAT members and US$531 for non-members. The prize purse is US$4,999 and will be open to all Ultra Distance competitors except relays.
