TriStar is back in Germany this weekend for the third year of the TriStar Worms-Germany event, hosted in the heart of Central Europe in the German city of Worms. The main event, TriStar111 Worms-Germany kicks off on Sunday 10 June at 08:00 CET. There will also be a TriStar33.3, a Relay Challenge (over the TriStar111 distance) and a brand new StarKids Run powered by Volksbank Worms-Wonnegau eG on Saturday.
More than 700 athletes will enjoy the fun and easy-recovery TriStar triathlon format, in a ‘family focused’ event.
Back in 1983 Worms hosted one of the first triathlon races in Germany, in this special spot for the triathlon scene in Central Europe. Due to its central location within Germany, and the beautiful surrounding region, it provides an ideal location for all athletes – both German nationals and international visitors.
Worms is also the hometown of world class triathlete Lothar Leder, the first man to finish an Ironman distance triathlon under 8 hours. He is the organizer and Sports Director of TriStar Worms-Germany. “Now we are in the third year in Worms and we wish all athletes a lot of fun for their ride through the vineyards around Worms. Just be there and enjoy the triathlon – my team and I will organize all the rest,” Leder said.
The 1K swim split in the calm waters of the raft harbour of Worms is followed by 2 laps of 50K biking through the beautiful Rheinhessen wine country. A 10K run integrates the 2 millennia of history of Worms. The run heads out of the transition zone crossing the newly built bridge across the Rhine back into the historic old town of Worms, Germany.
