Ironman Foundation gives back US$65,000 to Greater Madison community for 2012 Ironman Wisconsin presented by Trek

The Ironman Foundation Community Fund continues to leave behind the Ironman legacy by providing US$65,000 in grant funding to non-profit groups in the Greater Madison, Wisconsin, community. The donation was in support of the 2012 Ironman Wisconsin presented by Trek. The Ironman Foundation’s contribution will provide support local non-profit needs and initiatives within the community.

The Ironman Foundation donated US$35,000 to the Greater Madison Sports Commission at the 2012 Ironman Wisconsin, which took place on 9 September. This grant provides financial assistance to at-risk youth, connecting them to sports activities that offer lifelong enjoyment and health benefits. The Ironman Foundation also donated US$30,000 in grants to non-profits groups in the community to support their initiatives.

In addition to allocating funds back into the Greater Madison community, The Ironman Foundation provides athletes with the platform to fundraise for a non-profit beneficiary of their choice as they train for their Ironman event. More than 25 athletes signed up to participate in The Ironman Foundation’s ‘Your Journey, Your Cause’ program during the 9 September event.

These athletes have been touched by something greater than themselves and are fundraising to make their race experience more than just crossing the finish line – they are racing for a cause. Collectively they have raised over US$60,000 for their respective causes.
