Set Up Events unveils 2013 triathlon schedule

Set Up Events, one of the US nation’s largest triathlon production companies, has today unveiled its 2013 triathlon season schedule. Set Up Events produces and manages over 140 triathlons, running and obstacle events throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Registration for the 2013 events will open on 12 November 2012.

“Set Up Events continues to experience unprecedented growth, both in the number of races and competitors,” said company President Andrew Silbereisen. “With the exciting new events we’ve added to our 2013 schedule, and knowing many of the races fill up quickly, this is a great time for our participants to start planning their 2013 season.

“Given the diversity in distances and types of events we offer, and the broad region covered, there are great events for triathletes, crossfit, and endurance enthusiasts of all levels.”

New for 2013

  • Set Up Cup – Spring, 2014 – A registration-free championship event for participants who compete throughout 2013 in Set Up Cup qualifier events
  • Bone Island Triathlon – Key West, Florida; Iron/Half Iron distance on 12 January 2013. Finishing on world famous Duval Street, this race will be ‘another great destination event for the entire family to enjoy’
  • Trek Relays – A series of overnight relays in the southeast where running is a team sport. Dixie200 – 22-23 March; Palmetto200 – 12-13 April; Colonial200 – 20-21 Sepember 2013

Back for 2013 – PPD Beach2Battleship – Wilmington, North Carolina; Iron/Half Iron distance on 26 October 2013. One of Set Up Events’ most anticipated race weekends returns in 2013, with PPD B2B in Wilmington, NC. Rated as one of Triathlete Magazine’s top five triathlons in the world, PPD B2B consistently sells out well in advance of race day. With its reputation for a great host city, Set Up’s expert race production, and a fast ocean swim, PPD Beach2Battleship will again draw competitors from across the US, and around the world.

Set Up Events offers six different series with individual events counting towards overall series standings. Each series has its own standout events.

The AAA Car Care North Carolina Triathlon Series (AAA-NCTS) is the largest and longest running triathlon series in the United States. Events in this series take place from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the beautiful ocean beaches of North Carolina, and from the urban settings of Charlotte and Raleigh to serene natural venues such as White Lake.

Including the Azalea Sprint Triathlon, Triangle Triathlon and YMCA Triathlon at Wrightsville Beach, the AAA-NCTS hosts several iconic events that have been around for more than a decade and consistently sell out. Other major events in this series include:

  • White Lake Half Iron Distance Triathlon – White Lake, North Carolina – 6 April 2013
  • White Lake Double Sprint Triathlon – White Lake, NC – 5 May 2013
  • Carolina Half Iron Distance – Charlotte, NC – 29 September 2013

The AAA Car Care South Carolina Series (AAA-SCTS), presented by the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas, offers competitors a variety of triathlons in the beautiful state of South Carolina. The AAA-SCTS offers a variety of course types, distances and difficulties.

  • TryCharleston Half & Sprint Triathlons – Mt Pleasant, South Carolina – 20 April 2013
  • Lake Murray – Prosperity, SC – 5 May 2013
  • Clemson Triathlon – Clemson, SC – 11 May 2013

The Virginia Triathlon Series (VTS) consists of events throughout the state of Virginia from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the suburbs of DC to the Tidewater area. Whether it is an early season urban venue or a late season rural event, according to Set Up, competitors find that once they race in the VTS, they’re hooked.

  • Kinetic Half Iron Distance & Sprint Triathlon – Spotsylvania, Virginia – 11-12 May 2013
  • Jamestown International – Williamsburg, VA – 9 June 2013
  • Giant Acorn International & Sprint – Lake Anna, VA – 28-29 September 2013

The TrySports Triathlon Series (TTS) offers a variety of race distances and course types well suited for novices all the way to elite athletes, and consistently draws competitors from across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.

  • Kerr Lake Triathlon – Henderson, NC – 2 June 2013
  • Lake Logan International & Sprint – Canton, NC – 4-8 August 2013

The Maryland Triathlon Series (MTS) events will take place from Frederick County in the west to Kent County in the east, and just outside the US nation’s capital. Each of the events supports the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s efforts to restore the Chesapeake Bay.

  • Rock Hall International & Sprint – Rock Hall, Maryland – 1-2 June 2013
  • Battle of the Potomac – National Harbor, MD – 15 September 2013
  • Waterman’s Half & Sprint – Indian Head, MD –12-13 October 2013

The Georgia Triathlon Series (GTS) has a diverse geography, and triathletes can anticipate races in both flat and fast ocean locations as well as challenging courses associated with the northern hills and lake area.

  • LaGrange Sprint – LaGrange, Georgia – 23 March 2013
  • Early Bird Sprint – Athens, GA – 7 April 2013
  • Trybee Island Sprint – Tybee Island, GA – 9 June 2013

The Brave Soldier Challenge (BSC) is an obstacle course race series designed to test athletic strength, endurance and agility. The BSC will travel up and down the eastern seaboard in 2013 to various venues and college campuses in major cities, and will attract crossfit, military and fitness enthusiasts.

  • Tampa Brave Soldier Challenge – Tampa, Florida – 2 March 2013
  • Tuscaloosa Brave Soldier Challenge – Tuscaloosa, Alabama – 16 March 2013

Set Up Events, one of the US nation’s largest producers of triathlons, is a full-service production, registration and timing company for participatory sports, triathlon and running events.
