The Croatian Triathlon Federation has recognized the TriStar111 Split race as the first official long distance triathlon in Croatia. Taking place on 27 May 2012, the event on the attractive tourist destination on the Adriatic Sea is now in a position to contribute strongly to the development of endurance sports such as triathlon, cycling, running and swimming across the Balkan region of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia.
TriStar event organizer StarEvents, in collaboration with the Croatian Triathlon Federation, aims to develop the TriStar111 Split triathlon in the Mediterranean city, from today’s 32 participating Croatian clubs with some 480 athletes to more than 1,000 participants this year.
Enthusiasts and newbies to the sport of triathlon from Croatia learnt the news about TriStar’s collaboration with the national governing body directly from the board of the Croatian Triathlon Federation. Mr Damir Shegota, President of the federation ratified the TriStar111 triathlon long distance triathlon and included it in the Croatian race calendar.
Among the participants, three Olympians from Split (Igor Boraska, Deni Luši? and Sead Maruši?) are taking part in the TriStar111 relay, alongside Croatian long distance triathletes Dejan Patr?evi?, Germany’s Jens Kaiser, Jürgen Stielgenbauer, and last but not least the winner of the first TriStar Split Andy Fuchs; all of whom will be on the start line.
“This year after the challenging bike leg follows the reshaped easy run along the newly renovated seaside promenade towards the pine shades of ‘Sustipan’,” said Ivan Pavi?, General Secretary of TK Split (Triathlon Club Split), board member of the Croatian Triathlon Federation and co-organizer of TriStar Split.
He added, “In addition we also offer together with Achim Mörtl a training camp for those who want to improve before the race.”
Meanwhile, a local radio station will cover the race live from the seaside promenade, with race developments also updated via the TriStar website.
