Ironman brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC) has unveiled details of its Olympic/international distance 5150 Triathlon Series, which will include four races in Europe and South Africa in 2013. The 5150 Triathlon Series event in Zurich becomes the 5150 Triathlon Series European Championship.
The 2013 events in the 5150 Triathlon Series include:
- 5150 Triathlon Series Klagenfurt (AUT) – 9 June 2013
- 5150 Triathlon Series European Championship Zurich (SUI) – 27 July
- 5150 Triathlon Series Marseille (FRA) – 28 July
- 5150 Triathlon Series Bela Bela (RSA) – 24 August
While the 5150 Triathlon Series Liverpool is not on the 2013 calendar, WTC has welcomed 5150 Triathlon Series Marseille to its event schedule, leaving the number of total European series events at four.
“By entering the 5150 Triathlon Series Marseille, athletes will experience an amazing race location, including a swim start in the French Mediterranean Sea, a bike course through the beautiful surroundings of Marseille and a run course close to the start and finish area – perfectly suited for spectators and fans alike,” said Yves Cordier, WTC’s Managing Director France.

“Some of the top triathletes we witnessed competing in the Olympic Games London 2012 are from Europe and we cordially invite all of them to race against each other in the 5150 Triathlon Series European Championship here in Switzerland,” said Nico Aeschimann, WTC’s Managing Director Switzerland.
Aeschimann added, “Our goal is to put up a race that pros and amateurs alike will find attractive and we want to make sure newcomers feel as welcome as seasoned athletes.”
