Calling on Ironman athletes to make a difference for the Philippines

To support victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Ironman and The Ironman Foundation want to provide one meal a day for 1,000 families for a month. To this end, Ironman is calling on its athletes to achieve that goal. The company has teamed up with a Philippine non-profit organization dedicated to fighting poverty, Gawad Kalinga (which means ‘give care’).

A letter from Ironman/World Triathlon Corp (WTC) CEO Andrew Messick spotlights how athletes can help…

Dear Ironman athletes, fans, supporters and family –

One of the most powerful storms ever recorded, Haiyan has devastated parts of the Philippines. Half of those displaced are in shelters, the other half are struggling to survive in the open, desperate for humanitarian support. To support victims of Typhoon Haiyan, our goal is to feed at least 1,000 families every day for a month. We’ve teamed up with a Philippine non-profit organization dedicated to fighting poverty, Gawad Kalinga, which means “give care”.

We’re going to raise money through the sale of Ironman Limited Edition Philippines Relief Effort T-Shirts. Your $30 contribution for one shirt will feed a family of five every day for a month, and 100% of the proceeds goes to support these families in need. Visit IronmanStore.com to buy your Limited Edition Philippines Relief Effort T-Shirt today through December 1st. You can also help contribute to our relief efforts at Crowdrise.com/IronmanHumanitarian.

With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disaster.
