Energy gel pioneer, GU Energy Labs has launched its newest gel flavour, Salted Caramel. As noted by GU, the new Salted Caramel variant packs the same optimal blend of carbohydrates, the proprietary GU amino blend and a full serving of Vitamin C & E — but with an elevated amount of electrolytes ensuring fast and easy replenishment of sodium and potassium.
The new flavour is on sale now and will have an official unveiling at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, alongside the recently-released Passionfruit Roctane Gel. Salted Caramel will be sold exclusively as an 8-pack, and its savoury profile is projected to become a favourite for holidays as well as hot summer days when electrolyte needs are highest.

The new flavour is also highlighted by a packaging best described as…quirky. “Yes, it’s a Yeti,” confirmed O’Connor.
“It started as a way to commemorate the Winter 2014 season, but then kind of took on a mind of its own. Our Yeti can be spotted around the world, with our customers taking photos on the peaks of mountains, boarding in Pacific and on trailheads. If a Yeti were vegetarian, we like to think he’d eat GU. ”
Salted Caramel is already available for store order with an MSRP of US$10.45 for an eight-pack. Outdoor Retailer attendees are encouraged to visit the GU Energy booth #38155 and experience the new flavour first-hand.
