Set Up Events, one of the US nation’s largest triathlon production companies, has announced that the first invitational Set Up Cup Championship Race will be held on Saturday 26 April 2014 at Arlington Place in Minnesott Beach along the Neuse River in North Carolina.
Athletes who have raced in five or more of the 18 Set Up Cup qualifiers will compete, with no registration fee, for top prizes in open, master’s and age group categories. Set Up offers the registration-free race to reward these athletes’ commitment to the sport of triathlon.
Andrew Silbereisen, President of Set Up Events, explained, “This umbrella race series has allowed triathletes to expand their race experiences beyond their home race series while striving for an exciting year-end qualification and championship racing goal. It will be a championship-calibre race weekend at a stunning new venue.”
With just a few months of the 2013 race season remaining, athletes are encouraged to complete their final qualifying races in the Set Up Cup Series. Six races of sprint, international, and half distances are still to come in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Maryland.
Many athletes have already qualified and many others are just a race or two away from earning their spot at this special race. The full schedule can be found at the Set Up Cup website.
In addition to the Set Up Cup 2014 championship race on the Saturday, the AAA Car Care North Carolina Triathlon Series is hosting an open sprint distance race on Sunday 27 April 2014.
The 18 events in the Set Up Cup series include three events from each of the Set Up Events race series in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Maryland, as well as the TrySports Triathlon Series. The series includes sprint, international, and half iron distance events.
