IPICO Sports, a global event timing systems specialist, has launched its Power Tag, which is positioned as ‘a low-cost high performance tag that will ensure the most reliable read rates in high activity sporting events.’
IPICO Sports believes the Power Tag will be the tag of choice for race directors across cycling, triathlon, mountain biking, skiing and other high-speed sports events. The battery operated ‘active’ tag aims to provide superior read reliability. In addition, according to IPICO Sports, the award-winning Dual Frequency sports technology platform allows the tag cost to be considerably lower than its competitors.
The IPICO Sports Power Tag was developed under the direction of Marius Van Dyk, IPICO Sports’ Technical Director. He explained his team’s design intent, “We wanted to enhance the read reliability in multisport events and the Power Tag can be used with existing mats and readers or with our new antenna form factor that doesn’t require the use of mats for events such as cycling and other events in difficult environments that include beach, snow and water scenarios.”
The versatile Power Tag has a high read reliability and read rate performance while accommodating speeds up to 70km/hour or 43.5mph with the correct read point setup. The Power Tag has a 3 year battery lifecycle upon activation.
