The Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca has now become the world’s largest Ironman event with 3,800 athletes committed to racing this highly sought after race on Sunday 11 May 2014.
As recently announced, Ironman participation is on the rise with record sell-out rates across Europe and the Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca is no exception. Having not only sold out 3 months ahead of schedule on last year, the event also attracted a further 500 entries, securing its position as the world’s largest.
The Spanish island of Mallorca, a popular tourist destination in its own right, has proven a firm favourite amongst athletes across Europe looking for early season racing. The beautiful setting of Alcudia doesn’t disappoint. Its stunning course and ideal conditions are a warm welcome to the athletes after long winter months of training.
Athletes from a phenomenal 68 countries have entered the race, made up of some 3,500 individual and 70 teams, as well as attracting an impressive pro athlete field. However the UK is by some margin the largest nation represented with over 1,000 British athletes racing – more than double the amount of Germans (465) and Spanish (363), with the Danish (265) and Russians (200) also in the top 5 nations represented.

With Ironman Wales having also sold out in the last week and 7 months ahead of this time last year, general entries for a full distance Ironman now only remain for Ironman Lanzarote on 17 May, Ironman Switzerland in Zurich on 27 July and the full distance Ironman Mallorca, Alcudia, on 27 September.
