Ironman World Champion Pete Jacobs and Rudy Project have extended their partnership. From 2013 onwards, the world-class Australian triathlete will not only utilize the sports eyewear of the Italian company, but will also rely on its award winning road and time trial helmets.
For the past several years, Jacobs has trained, raced and dominated multiple events while wearing his high performance Rudy Project glasses. Achieving one success after another in tough competitions such as ITU, 5150 and Ironman 70.3, he eventually won the highly sought-after Kona crown – winning the Ironman World Championship 2012 in Kona, Hawai’i.
Jacobs began testing a wide range of Rudy Project helmets – eventually narrowing his focus on one of the most popular road helmets: the Windmax – and the most worn time-trial helmet at both Kona 2011 and 2012: the Wingspan. As noted by Rudy Project, the accomplished athlete’s feedback will help the brand further improve and develop its products.
“We believed in the extraordinary potential of Pete Jacobs right from the very beginning, when he was still an upcoming athlete, and his results have proved us right,” said Simone Barbazza, Marketing Director of Rudy Project. “We are therefore extremely happy to extend our partnership to helmets as well, since Pete is a prestigious testimonial and an important partner in product development.”
Thomas Vonach, Global Sponsorship Manager for triathlon at Rudy Project added, “Pete Jacobs has a unique approach to his preparation and performance. He tests and chooses his gear carefully and is not afraid to go unique ways in his preparation. This is all part of his winning strategy that allows no compromises in any field. Above all, Pete is such an authentic, accessible and great sportsman, one could not wish for a better ambassador for Rudy Project and the sport of triathlon.”
Rudy Project collaborates with many other renowned athletes, organisations and teams, including world class triathletes such as Andy Potts, Timo Bracht, Tim O’Donnell, Yvonne van Vlerken, Melissa Hausschildt, Rebekah Keat, Jimmy Johnsen and many more.
