Accessories specialist Bontrager, part of the Trek family of brands, is announcing the release of an all-new saddle platform, Serano, to specifically accommodate the aggressive riding posture needs of competitive cyclists.
Designed with Bontrager inForm BioDynamics, the Serano utilizes carbon construction and ‘obsessed-over curvature’ to keep the rider efficient while keeping saddle weight to a minimum. First seen under several athletes at 2013’s Tour de France, Bontrager is making the all-new Serano saddle platform available for cyclists around the world with the release of the Serano RXL and Serano RL.
Curvature is king
Curvature defines the cross-sectional shape of the saddle and affects the angle at which forces are transmitted from the saddle to the rider’s bone structure. Serano’s traditional shaping harkens back to the designs ridden during cycling’s golden age but, according to Bontrager, its construction and features are unmistakably state-of-the-art: from the oversized carbon rails, to the Zone Density Padding, to inForm BioDynamics and Posture Specific Design.
Bontrager inForm BioDynamic saddles
The philosophy behind inForm BioDynamic saddles is the result of countless elite athlete ride tests, pressure mapping sessions, high-speed video analyses and human computer modelling studies. These tools, used by a team of mechanical and biomechanical engineers in conjunction with Trek Precision Fit, help refine the minute details that go into the complete Bontrager line of posture-specific saddles.
Serano, like all Bontrager inForm BioDynamic saddles, was developed with Size Specific Curvature. This means that it is available in three sizes in order to properly support a full range of pelvis widths. The Serano RXL and Serano RL are available at Trek retailers worldwide in December 2013.
