Cervélo today released its new P3, building on the legacy of the world’s most decorated triathlon/time trial bike. According to the company, ‘Our latest addition to the P-series is designed to make you simply faster.’
Cervélo notes that it has made the P3 faster and stiffer, while incorporating ‘the visible lineage of Cervélo’s category-leading P5.’
The new Cervélo P3 is available immediately as a complete bike for US$5400 with Shimano Dura Ace 9000, Magura RT6 hydraulic brakes, Rotor 3D+ BBRight crankset, and Mavic Cosmic Elite wheelset.
The P3 continues the brand’s on-going obsession with making athletes ‘simply faster’. Cervélo always focuses on engineering benchmarks: hitting its goals in the wind tunnel and through CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis. The new P3 aims to meet these targets through: intuitive assembly, accessible nutrition, a wide range of fit options and easy packing for travel.
Through its design process, Cervélo sketched and smoothed together many of its advanced aero features to create a bike with speed built in.
“The P3 is designed for the dedicated age-grouper or pro ready to shatter their personal bests,” said Phil White, Chairman of Cervélo. “These are the athletes we see by the hundreds each season, at their local community tri, regional Olympic-distance or at even at Kona.
“The P3 belongs to these athletes and the goals they’ve set for 2013 – we’re here to help them be even faster.”
- Perfect fit within reach: The P3’s new geometry introduces its size 45 650c and 48 700c models. With the P5’s proven rail seatpost and 11/8 steerer tube allowing for a personalized set-up, fit options are virtually unlimited.
- Preferred setup within reach: Superbike DNA; standard parts. The P3 offers sleek presentation of standard components; and intuitive integration means nutrition and hydration options are fast and flexible. Shielding seat stays hide the rear brake, offering an aero advantage while allowing for easy assembly and maintenance.
- Next PB within reach: The P3 has speed built in: designed using the Aerozone engineering analysis perfected on the P5, along with Cervélo’s dropped downtube, shielding seat stays and the stiffness and power transfer of the BBright platform.
