New deals with T3 Multisports and Wian Sullwald as Bonk enters South African market

UK triathlon brand Bonk has partnered with T3 Multisports in a distribution deal that sees the brand now available throughout South Africa.

As a grass roots label, Bonk has made an impact over the past 12 months in the UK with its brand of lifestyle apparel dedicated to the triathlon scene. Bonk’s unique, striking designs combined with catchy slogans such as ‘I will not bonk’ and the brand mantra ‘Live To Train’ have ‘attracted interest from triathletes all over the world.’

T3 Multisports has now jumped on board with a deal to distribute Bonk throughout South Africa as the country heads towards its new triathlon season. T3 Multisports is a young and progressive company. Having already acquired distribution rights for Huub wetsuits, it sees Bonk as the perfect brand to launch into the exciting and growing triathlon market in South Africa.

Louis Daffarn of T3 Multisports said “We see Bonk as the future of triathlon apparel. It is an exciting brand, which really bridges the gap between the more conventional triathlon manufacturers and the surf/skate style labels that have become global lifestyle brands.”

He added, “Bonk has some hugely innovative developments in the pipeline, so we are really excited to get in on the ground floor with the team and hope to build something special with Bonk in South Africa.”

Charlie Evans, founder and director of Bonk said “We are delighted to be working with T3. They immediately picked up on what we’re trying to achieve with our brand, and they are an energetic and ambitious company. We feel they are the perfect guys to team up with in what is a very dynamic market over in South Africa.”

Bonk has also signed up rising star and 2012 Junior World Triathlon Champion, Wian Sullwald, as a brand ambassador to spearhead its campaign in South Africa.

Wian was South Africa’s first World Triathlon Champion after winning the junior category at the World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand, in October 2012. He has spent 2013 racing for the first time in the elite senior ranks, gaining experience and cementing an ITU ranking that will enable him to race the ITU World Triathlon Series (ITU WTS) and Commonwealth Games in 2014.

Commenting on this latest athlete sponsorship deal Evans added, “Bonk is delighted to have Wian on board. He is young, dynamic and ambitious, which are things that mirror aspects of our business, so he is the perfect fit. We are hugely excited at the prospect of watching his development as an athlete over the coming years.”

Bonk was founded in 2011 by Charlie Evans, a triathlete whose life has been changed positively since discovering the sport back in 2008. It was his own love of triathlon that inspired him to launch the Bonk clothing brand – dedicated to the swim, bike, run lifestyle.
